Meeting of secretaries of Security Councils of CA countries and Russia held in Almaty
The first meeting of the secretaries of the Security Councils of the Central Asian countries and Russia was held in Almaty,El.kz reports citing Akorda.
In his welcoming video message to the forum participants, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that in modern realities, the most important task for our region is to maintain stability and strengthen security, which involves effective threat forecasting, prompt development of preventive response measures and qualitatively new integrated approaches.
During the first meeting, the secretaries of the Security Councils considered specific areas of cooperation, based on the current international situation and the national interests of the countries of the region.
Assistant to the President - Secretary of the Security Council of Kazakhstan Gizat Nurdauletov proposed priority areas of cooperation, including helping to stabilize the situation in Afghanistan, ensuring transport and food security.
Particular attention was paid to the issues of water security, taking into account the need to preserve the common ecosystem, including in the context of climate change.
On the same day, under the chairmanship of Gizat Nurdauletov and Secretary of the Security Council of Russia Nikolai Patrushev, scheduled bilateral consultations were held between the apparatuses of the Security Councils of Kazakhstan and Russia, which were also attended by the heads and employees of the relevant state bodies.
The parties discussed cooperation in the field of countering terrorism and religious extremism in Central Asia, exchanged assessments of the current geopolitical situation.
