Today, on March 27, the whole world celebrates World Theatre Day, a day when special attention is paid to the importance of theatre in the cultural life of society. For Kazakhstan, this day has a special significance, given its rich cultural heritage and the variety of theatrical forms and genres spread throughout the country, El.kz reports.
Currently, there are 67 theaters in Kazakhstan, 57 of which are under state patronage. Among them, 11 republican and 46 regional theaters stand out. Republican theatres are a variety of formats, including ethnic, opera and ballet, drama and musical-drama institutions. Regional theaters offer a wide range of genres, from drama to puppet shows.
The repertoire of theaters in Kazakhstan includes more than 2.5 thousand performances, including 309 new products presented in 2023. Over the past year, the artists gave more than 12 thousand performances, which were attended by over 2.5 million spectators. The Kazakh theater is in great demand not only at home, but also abroad.
The theatrical sphere in Kazakhstan includes about 20,000 professionals, which emphasizes not only the cultural, but also the socio-economic impact of the theater on society.
