A moderate-level magnetic storm is expected in May, 15, El.kz reports

According to scientists' forecasts, the probability of G1–G2 level magnetic storms is approximately 85%. Experts note that Earth will not be able to avoid the influence of the solar flux; the current forecast focuses solely on the strength of the impending impact. In the remaining 15% of cases, the magnetosphere may remain in a state of weak disturbances or stay completely calm.

Additional uncertainty is caused by a plasma cloud ejected by the Sun on May 10. According to scientists, its edge could graze Earth as early as May 13. Such phenomena are difficult to predict , as even a small calculation error can change the scenario.

Experts are also monitoring active region 4436 on the Sun, where two powerful flares previously occurred on May 7 and 10. This area is now gradually turning toward Earth. If a new energy release occurs there in the coming days, the impact could be direct. Scientists estimate the probability of such a scenario at approximately 30%.

The Laboratory of Solar Astronomy reminded that the most intense period of geomagnetic disturbances is expected from May 15 to May 18. During this time, weather-sensitive individuals may experience headaches, weakness, blood pressure fluctuations, and a general decline in well-being.

How to protect yourself from magnetic storms: doctors’ advice

To minimize the negative impact of magnetic storms on the body, experts recommend following these simple rules from May 8 to 10:

Adjust your diet. Avoid fatty, spicy, and overly salty foods. Salt retains water in the body, which may trigger swelling and blood pressure spikes.

Stay hydrated. Drink more clean water or herbal teas such as mint, lemon balm, or chamomile.

Avoid stimulants. Minimize consumption of coffee, strong tea, and alcohol. These drinks put additional strain on the nervous and cardiovascular systems.

Sleep and rest. Get at least 7–8 hours of sleep per night. Try to go to bed before 11:00 p.m.

Physical activity. Replace intense gym workouts with calm walks outdoors. A contrast shower in the morning may help keep blood vessels toned.

Keep medications nearby. If you have chronic illnesses, make sure the necessary medications are easily accessible.
