LESSYA KARATAYEVA: RICH HISTORY OF GREAT STEPPE WILL GAIN NEW LEASE OF LIFE IN THE DIGITAL DIMENSION
Knowledge of its own history is of particular importance for any society, as it forms the basis of identification processes.
It is possible to evaluate historical events and facts in different ways, but it is difficult not to agree that, without understanding your past, it is impossible to understand fully your present and, accordingly, to determine the horizons of the future.
At the same time, the history of each nation is as deep and rich as people are interested in learning it. Whether efforts are made to gather facts scrupulously, to cover the source base as much as possible, to study a vast array of related materials, or whether history is constructed on the basis of a mythological base.
Article by President of Kazakhstan "Seven facets of the Great Steppe" will initiate a number of projects that are a continuation of the programme "Ruhani zhangyru". Each of the proposed projects is aimed at creating conditions for in-depth study of the history of Kazakhstan, the collection of historical and ethnographic data and promotion of research results.
The creation of new mechanisms to popularize the history of Kazakhstan is extremely important in connection with the emerging transformation of information consumption practices. At the present stage of development of Kazakhstan traditional techniques of information and word of mouth cannot cope with the public request for information.
Traditions of reading books go in the past gradually and especially of a scientific nature or popular science. In this regard, we can hope that the rich history of the Great Steppe will find its new breath in the digital dimension. Digitization of historical sources will make them available to everyone, recording of original folklore will preserve it for future generations, the creation of interactive museums and augmented reality technologies will allow visitors to fully feel the involvement in past events.
