Famous American actor Leonardo DiCaprio expressed recognition of Kazakhstan's efforts to protect a rare species of animals through a post on Instagram, El.kz reports.
The actor noted Kazakhstan's success in the conservation of Saigas, which were classified as an endangered species in 2002. In 2005, only 48,000 individuals were recorded in Kazakhstan, but by now their number has increased to 1.9 million.
DiCaprio highlighted the efforts of the Kazakh government in the fight against poaching, the creation of new protected areas and the strengthening of law enforcement activities, calling these achievements "unprecedented."
"The cooperation of the Kazakh authorities with environmental organizations, universities and scientists is a vivid example of real success in the field of nature conservation, based on joint efforts," DiCaprio said.
