Labeling of medicines and jewelry discussed in Kazakh Government
Issues of introducing labeling of medicines and jewelry were discussed at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov with the participation of representatives of the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
To date, tobacco products and footwear are subject to labeling in the republic. The introduction of this measure made it possible to: ensure the traceability of goods; effectively identify illegal products; reduce shadow turnover and increase tax revenues to the budget. In general, labeling is designed to protect honest entrepreneurs and protect consumers
The introduction of drug labeling is scheduled for July 1, 2024. Jewelry labeling is also planned to be introduced from July 1, 2024.
Following the discussion, the Prime Minister instructed to introduce administrative responsibility for the sale of unmarked goods in accordance with the established procedure, as well as to take measures to improve the mechanism for selecting goods for labeling in a pilot mode.
In general, work in this direction will continue. In particular, in 2024, it is planned to conduct pilot projects for motor oils, beer and drinks.
