21.10.2025 13:01

Today, the official opening of the KIA Qazaqstan plant took place in Kostanay, El.kz reports.

The new plant has a production capacity of 70,000 vehicles per year, with an automation level of 60%.

The project, worth 131.5 bln tenge (90% of which are foreign investments), was completed in record time — in less than two years. The enterprise will produce three models using the CKD method (Sorento, Sportage, Cerato) and ten models using the SKD method (K5, K8, K9, Ceed, Ceed CX, Seltos, Soul, Carnival, Picanto, Pegas).

The launch of the plant marks the largest investment event in the region’s history and stands as a symbol of global business confidence in Kazakhstan’s investment climate.

A World-class automotive technology hub

The KIA Qazaqstan plant has been built on the “smart manufacturing” principle — integrating digital technologies, automation, and artificial intelligence. The production line employs 68 industrial robots that ensure high precision and assembly quality. This is the first enterprise in Kazakhstan to implement a fully digital production management system.

New jobs and modern training

The launch of the plant creates 1,500 permanent jobs. Workforce training is carried out through 10 colleges in the Kostanay region, where over 2,300 students are studying mechanical engineering disciplines — 1,037 of them through a dual education system.

In addition, 14 Kazakhstani specialists have completed internships in South Korea, and a dual-degree program in automotive engineering has been launched in partnership with Akhmet Baitursynuly Kostanay Regional University.
