Kazhydromet takes part in conference of Asian and Pacific countries
The World Meteorological Organization, together with the National Center for Meteorology of the United Arab Emirates, organized a Regional Conference in Abu Dhabi, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan.
From Kazakhstan, the conference was attended by the General Director of RSE "Kazhydromet" Danara Alimbayeva, the director of the hydrometeorological center Marina Schmidt and the director of the Department of Hydrology Adel Akhmetov.
The purpose of the regional conference is to provide a forum among national meteorological and hydrological services to strengthen regional cooperation and expand partnerships, as well as to implement WMO resolutions and decisions.
At the meeting, Kazhydromet made a proposal to develop a unified system for collecting radar data, where all meteorological radars of the countries of Central Asia will be integrated. This unified collection system will make it possible to obtain data online, which is important for early warning and preventive measures.
Since 2012, Kazakhstan has been a regional center for rapidly developing floods CARFFGS in the countries of Central Asia. Today, the centre, with the support of WMO, is operating successfully. The next stage of the project is to increase the network of exchange data for greater accuracy of forecasting.
