Kazakhstan’s passport rises to 61st place in global ranking

Kazakhstan has improved its global standing in the Henley Passport Index, climbing three positions to 61st place, the highest among Central Asian countries.
According to the international study, citizens of the republic can now travel to 79 countries visa-free or with simplified entry,El.kz reports.
The Henley Passport Index is a global ranking that measures the freedom of movement for citizens of different countries. It is based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which tracks visa regimes for passport holders from 199 states.
The index accounts for three types of travel access: visa-free entry, visas on arrival, and electronic visas that can be easily obtained online.
The ranking is updated quarterly, and even moving to one or two positions serve as an indicator of a country’s diplomatic activity.
