Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Trade and Integration has released an official statement regarding the new tariffs the United States plans to impose on Kazakh goods starting from August 1, 2025, El.kz reports citing the ministry’s press service.
“On July 7, 2025, an official notification was received from the President of the United States regarding the introduction of new import duties, effective August 1, 2025, on several countries, including Kazakhstan. A flat rate of 25 percent will apply to the entire volume of goods exported from Kazakhstan to the U.S.,” the statement from the Ministry says.
Despite this, a significant Kazakhstan’s exports will not be subject to the new restrictions.
“At the same time, the majority of Kazakh exports will continue to be delivered without the new tariffs, as they are exempt from these measures. This applies to key raw and strategic goods — oil, uranium, silver, ferroalloys, tantalum, and titanium,” the ministry noted.
According to preliminary estimates, the new measures will affect no more than 5% of Kazakhstan’s total exports to the United States.
“It is estimated that the adopted measures will not impact approximately 95 percent of Kazakhstan’s exports to the U.S.,” the Ministry added.
The Kazakh side has already initiated official communication with U.S. counterparts to seek optimal solutions and maintain a stable trade regime.
“As part of efforts to preserve a predictable trade environment for Kazakh goods, the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan has submitted concrete proposals and initiatives to the U.S. White House Administration aimed at improving the terms of mutual trade. Kazakhstan’s goal is to reach mutually agreed decisions on market access and trade conditions,” the Ministry stated.
According to the ministry, the U.S. is currently reviewing Kazakhstan’s proposals.
“At present, the American side is considering Kazakhstan’s initiatives and will inform us of the date for negotiations. Kazakhstan is preparing for further talks with the United States to protect national interests and develop a sustainable trade and economic partnership,” the Ministry of Trade and Integration emphasized.
