Kazakhstanis to choose home Internet providers
Kazakhstan amends the laws that will allow users to choose operators who provide communication service to houses, El.kz reports.
Today, as noted by the Deputy Chairman of the Telecommunications Committee of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gulnara Bukeyeva, houses are served by only one operator by agreement of the builder with the operator and residents. Now new legislative norms are being developed, which will provide for equal access to all operators. Amendments will be made to the law on communications, housing relations and urban planning standards.
"Within the framework of these amendments, we will give the opportunity to enter all operators on an equal right and then users will have the opportunity to choose one or another operator," she said.
According to the deputy of the Mazhilis Ekaterina Smyshlyaeva, the bill is aimed at demonopolizing the communications market.
"There are issues related to the requirements for Construction Regulations and rules of the Republic of Kazakhstan, that is, when a particular house is being built, so that communication service channels are provided. We now have mainly large operators on the market, for small operators there are a number of legal restrictions when they cannot participate. There are material limitations when it is difficult for them to conduct acommunication service channel.
We don't have many small players. A small operator will never come to small settlements, because there are few users there and it is not profitable for them from a commercial point of view. Our task is to have as many small telecom operators as possible on the market, who would live in a competitive environment, fight for quality and provide communication service to our small settlements," the deputy added.
