The prestigious international robotics championship, the UK FIRST LEGO League Championship, organized by the Institution of Engineering and Technology was held in Harrogate, United Kingdom. The Astrobot team from Astana emerged as the overall champions.
A total of 68 teams from various countries, including the UK, Brazil, France, Germany, and Slovakia, participated in the championship.
Kazakhstan’s team included students from leading educational institutions: KIS, NIS (Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools), Fizmat, Ardingly, and Quantum STEM. The participants demonstrated a high level of preparation, engineering mindset, and teamwork.
The team received their invitation to the championship following a successful performance at the Central Asia FIRST Championship international tournament, which took place in Astana in February.
In addition to the "Robot Game" category, the students presented an innovative project: artifacts.kz, an online database of archaeological artifacts from Kazakhstan. During their presentation, the participants demonstrated the full development cycle: from research and the initial idea to technical implementation and collaboration with specialized research institutes.
The project was highly praised by the judges, not only for its technological component but also for its contribution to the preservation of cultural heritage. It was specifically noted that the team succeeded in bringing a "piece of Kazakhstan" with them and brilliantly representing their national culture on the international stage.
