Kazakhstan identifies potential suppliers for construction of nuclear power stations
Kazakhstan has identified potential suppliers for the construction of nuclear power stations, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Energy.
"Samruk-Kazyna" JSC, together with the Ministry of Energy and interested organizations, considered the technologies of six global suppliers on the basis of previously submitted proposals from American (NuScale Power), American-Japanese (GE-Hitachi), Korean (KHNP), Chinese (CNNC), Russian (Rosatom) and French (EDF) companies.
"At the same time, given the lack of experience in the construction and operation of low-power reactors proposed by NuScale Power and GE-Hitachi in world practice, this technology is considered as a promising direction for the subsequent development of nuclear energy," the Ministry of Energy said.
For the first nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan, a short list of 4 suppliers with time-tested high-power reactor technologies with operating experience has been compiled.
