On July 1, a meeting of the Supervisory Group of the Bologna Process on the transfer of co-chairmanship in the Bologna process to Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic until the end of 2022 was held in an online format, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Co-Chairs are included in the BFUG Board, which is the executive governing body of the Bologna Process between ministerial conferences of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), held every 2-3 years.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministries of Education of France and Azerbaijan (outgoing co-chairs), the Czech Republic and Kazakhstan (current co-chairs), as well as Albania (vice-chairman of the BFUG).

Kazakhstan presented an action plan aimed at promoting the principles of the Bologna process among the countries of Central Asia. The plan also provides for the introduction of new trends in the development of higher education in the face of new challenges, the expansion of the autonomy of universities, the formation of an innovative and digital ecosystem, as well as the formation of a Central Asian educational hub.

"Kazakhstan will focus its efforts on creating a single Central Asian space of higher education in order to unite the scientific, intellectual and creative potential of higher educational institutions of the region. This will allow students and teaching staff of universities to freely exchange knowledge, experience and participate in joint research," minister of science and higher education Sayasat Nurbek said.

On October 5, 2022, a meeting of the BFUG Council will be held in Nur-Sultan, where current issues of the development of the Bologna process will be discussed and the progress achieved will be assessed.

It should be noted that Kazakhstan was already a co-chair of the Bologna process in 2014 together with Greece.
