Kazakhstan’s young athletes continue their strong performance at the 12th Asian Age Group Aquatics Championships in Bangkok. Following the conclusion of the swimming and diving events, the national team has secured a total of 22 medals, according to the Press Service of the Qazaq Aquatics Public Association.
Seven gold medals and a championship record
At the conclusion of the opening competition disciplines, Team Kazakhstan had won 22 medals, comprising seven gold, ten silver, and five bronze.
The majority of the medals were earned in swimming, where Kazakhstan claimed 16 medals: six gold, seven silver, and three bronze.
In diving, the national team added six more medals, including one gold, three silver, and two bronze.
Kazakhstan’s gold medalists
Alexander Rumynskiy won three gold medals in the 100-metre backstroke and 200-metre backstroke events and set a new Asian Age Group Championships record.
Additional gold medals were won by Danil Chuzhinov in the 200-metre individual medley and Anatoliy Rudenko in the 100-metre breaststroke and 50-metre breaststroke events. Kazakhstan also secured gold in the men’s 4×100-metre medley relay.
In diving, Alexander Podlesnyy claimed the championship title in the 1-metre springboard event. He also earned two silver medals in the platform and 3-metre springboard competitions.
Silver and bronze medalists
In swimming, silver medals were awarded to Alexander Mironychev, Darya Chesnokova, Fyodor Didenko, the Kazakhstan men’s relay team in multiple relay events, and the mixed relay team.
Bronze medals were won by Fyodor Didenko in the 400-metre freestyle, Danil Chuzhinov in the individual medley, and the Kazakhstan men’s 4×100-metre freestyle relay team.
In diving, Emil Kasimov and Illarion Avchenko claimed silver in the men’s synchronised 3-metre springboard event, while Timur Gassyul and Emil Kasimov earned bronze medals.
Medal competition continues
The Asian Age Group Aquatics Championships are being held in Bangkok with the participation of 111 athletes representing Kazakhstan. The competition programme also includes water polo and artistic swimming.
The Kazakhstan men’s national water polo team has advanced to the playoff stage after recording four victories in the group phase, while the women’s national team continues to compete in the round-robin tournament.
The championships will conclude on 25 July, and Team Kazakhstan remains in contention to add further medals to its overall tally.
