Kazakhstan will use artificial intelligence in the development of the new Admission Insight Test (AIT). AI will help not only generate questions, but also deeply analyze applicants’ responses, El.kz reports.
It was announced by Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek during a government briefing.
The new test will be significantly broader than the traditional Unified National Testing (UNT). It will assess not only subject knowledge, but also critical thinking, digital literacy, emotional intelligence, leadership skills, as well as applicants’ values system and integrity.
Currently, two delegations of experts from Princeton University together with over 4,000 Kazakh educators, they are conducting research and developing the test.
An important point is that the new test is not a franchise. It is being created in Kazakhstan and will remain the country’s intellectual property. Under the Bolashak International Scholarship program, Kazakh specialists will receive training at Princeton, after which Kazakhstan plans to establish its own national school of testology.
The transition to the new admission exam format is expected to take place over the next five years. The first pilot testing of the AIT is scheduled to begin in 2027.
