Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated at a meeting of law enforcement agencies about the need to reboot the crime forecasting system using AI and big data, El.kz reports.
The Head of State criticized the passive role of the Committee on Legal Statistics, which, according to him, is currently functioning more as an archive than an analytical center.
“Many offenses occur according to similar scenarios. With proper analysis, they can be prevented. The Committee should become a think tank, not just collect reports," Tokayev said.
It is planned to actively use artificial intelligence and big data technologies; launch the new Kazakh supercomputer; digitize the working processes in law enforcement agencies to reduce corruption risks.
The President noted that different interpretations of the same crimes lead to unjustified criminal prosecution.
“AI technologies will help standardize law enforcement. Citizens should not suffer from subjective decisions," he emphasized.
Tokayev instructed the Ministry of Internal Affairs to expedite the implementation of digital solutions: automation of investigations; predictive analytics to prevent crimes; reduction of bureaucracy and the human factor in police operations.
“Digitalization will increase the efficiency and transparency of law enforcement work," the President summarized.
These measures are expected to reduce the crime rate and make the security system smarter and more preventive.
