Kazakhstan to make changes to accounting policy of gambling addicts
The readiness of the healthcare system and the definition of measures to counter gambling addiction were discussed at a meeting chaired by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan Azhar Giniyat, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the department.
According to a number of foreign scientific studies, the prevalence of gambling addiction in the world is estimated at an average of about 3% of the adult population of the globe, while about 12.5% play regularly.
In mathematical modeling for Kazakhstan, the number of people who recognize the problems associated with addiction to gambling is about 36,000 people.
In order to reduce the stigma of providing assistance to persons with addictions, changes will be made to their accounting policies. The purpose of such accounting is to provide advice, information and psychological support in compliance with confidentiality. It is planned to register only in the internal information systems of medical organizations, the press service reported.
According to Azhar Giniyat, the current clinical protocols, standards of treatment, quality of medical care should be applied in private drug treatment centers. In this regard, it is planned to regulate their activities.
