The Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan will create a model law on combating domestic violence for the member countries of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly. The initiative of Maulen Ashimbayev was supported by members of the IPA CIS at a meeting of the Council in St. Petersburg today, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Senate of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

"Kazakhstan has gained significant experience in legislative regulation, counteraction and prevention of domestic violence. At the initiative of the President of the country Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev, in April this year, a law was adopted to strengthen the protection of the rights of women and children. Therefore, the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan took the initiative to develop an appropriate model law for the CIS countries.

By the end of this year, the Senate will submit a draft of the relevant legislative act for consideration by the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly so that parliamentarians of other CIS countries can use this model law in their legislative activities in the future," the Speaker of the Senate said.

It should be noted that the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan with a group of deputies took part in the final meetings of the X BRICS Parliamentary Forum and the meeting of the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States. Deputies of the Commonwealth countries considered topical issues on the international agenda and summed up the results of the work of the IPA CIS in 2023.
