Kazakhstan has proposed reducing the administrative burden on teachers and reviewing the use of digital platforms in schools, El.kz reports citing the Department of Internal Policy of Almaty Region.

The proposal was made by Lyazzat Zhylkybayeva, a member of the Kurultai, at a meeting with education professionals in Qonaev. According to her, the proliferation of digital platforms has increased teachers’ workloads, whereas technology should serve as a tool to support the educational process.

Lyazzat Zhylkybayeva also raised the issue of inclusive education. She emphasised that support for children with special educational needs should be provided through coordinated efforts involving schools, healthcare institutions and social protection authorities. Zhylkybayeva also called for greater attention to be paid to protecting teachers’ personal data.

Nurtore Zhussip, a member of the People’s Council of Kazakhstan, highlighted the risks associated with excessive use of artificial intelligence in education. In his view, teachers should help students maintain their critical thinking skills and ability to make independent decisions.

Vice Minister of Finance Asset Turysov outlined plans to modernise social infrastructure under the People’s Construction initiative. The plans envisage the construction of schools and hospitals, including measures to reduce the number of schools operating on a three-shift schedule. No specific construction timelines or targets were announced at the meeting.

At the conclusion of the meeting, teachers raised questions with the participants concerning major school repairs and the development of inclusive education.
