Kazakhstan is taking part in the International Space Summit being held at the Grand Palais in Paris. The country is represented by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development Zhaslan Madiyev, El.kz reports.
Around 120 foreign delegations arrived for the meeting. Participants include heads of state and government, heads of space agencies, scientists, military officials, astronauts, and business representatives.
One of the summit's main topics is orbital security. Participants are discussing the prevention of conflicts in space, the problem of space debris, the growing number of spacecraft, and international rules for the use of near-Earth space.
Special attention is being given to research on the Moon and Mars, the development of the space economy, and new technologies. The agenda also includes youth participation in scientific and space projects.
At the summit, Kazakhstan presented its current and prospective programs. The Earth remote sensing satellites KazEOSat-1, KazEOSat-2, and KazSTSat are currently operating in orbit.
Satellite communications and broadcasting within the country are provided by the KazSat-2/KazSat-3 system. It is currently being modernized, including preparations to replace KazSat-3 with a new spacecraft, KazSat-3R.
A spacecraft assembly and testing complex is operating in Astana. This spring, the first test launch of the "Sunkar" carrier rocket also took place at Baikonur, from the "Baiterek" complex.
By 2030, Kazakhstan plans to create an international Earth remote sensing constellation. It is to include Kazakhstani spacecraft as well as satellites from Mongolia, the Republic of Congo, and Nigeria.
According to Zhaslan Madiyev, Kazakhstan intends to use the country's space heritage to develop its own technological base and expand international projects.
"Today our task is to use this heritage to develop a modern, technologically self-sufficient space industry," he noted.
As part of the summit, the Kazakhstani delegation also plans meetings with foreign partners. The parties will discuss technology exchange and possible joint projects in the space industry.
