Kazakhstan plans to establish the country’s first campus of the international Network School. A corresponding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the global educational initiative, according to the Ministry’s press service, El.kz reports.
Kazakhstan strengthens coop in AI
The Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan has signed a Memorandum of Understanding on strategic cooperation with the international initiative Network School. The MoU provides a framework for collaboration in the fields of AI, innovation, technology entrepreneurship, and talent development.
The document was signed by Zhaslan Madiyev, Deputy PM and Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Balaji Srinivasan, Founder of Network School. Srinivasan is a Silicon Valley technology entrepreneur, former Chief Technology Officer of Coinbase, and an investor in hundreds of technology ventures.
Commenting on the signing ceremony, Zhaslan Madiyev stated:
“Artificial intelligence develops where talented people, bold ideas, and an enabling environment come together. Kazakhstan is building precisely such an ecosystem - one that is open to talent, technology entrepreneurs, and global partnerships. Our cooperation with Network School will further strengthen these efforts.”
Benefits of the new campus for Kazakhstan
A key initiative under the Memorandum is the establishment of the first Network School campus in Kazakhstan. The campus is expected to deliver educational programmes in artificial intelligence, conduct research activities, support technology entrepreneurship, and host international programmes for researchers.
The agreement also provides for support to startups, the expansion of scientific collaboration, and the attraction of leading engineers, entrepreneurs, researchers, and investors to Kazakhstan. These efforts are intended to broaden opportunities for Kazakhstani professionals to collaborate with international experts.
Another strategic priority is the integration of the campus into Kazakhstan’s national artificial intelligence ecosystem. The campus is expected to serve as a platform for knowledge exchange, the development of innovative projects, and the training of highly qualified specialists.
International initiatives and innovation development
The partners intend to jointly organize international conferences, forums, and hackathons. The parties will also explore the possibility of hosting the Network State Conference in Kazakhstan in 2026.
The cooperation framework includes promoting Kazakhstan as a regional hub for artificial intelligence, attracting technology companies, venture capital funds, and strategic investors. In addition, the parties will examine international best practices in digital government and mechanisms for attracting highly qualified intl talent.
The Memorandum of Understanding is concluded for a period of five years. During this time, the parties aim to establish favorable conditions for the development of advanced AI initiatives, strengthen international technological cooperation, and reinforce Kazakhstan’s position as one of the region’s leading centres for artificial intelligence and innovation.
