Kazakhstan participates in 'Women in Glacier Conservation' forum in Dushanbe

The forum 'Women and Glaciers in Central Asia was held in Dushanbe, with a delegation from Kazakhstan led by Unzila Shapak, Deputy of the Mazhilis, El.kz reports citing the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The event gathered representatives of government structures, environmental agencies, and non-governmental organizations from Central Asian countries.

The key goal of the forum is to unite efforts for glacier protection, adaptation to climate change, and to strengthen the contribution of women to environmental processes.

As part of the forum, the official opening of Tajikistan's chairmanship in the Central Asia Women's Dialogue for 2025 also took place.

The Kazakh side presented a report on the topic "The Role of Women in Preventing and Adapting to Climate Change in the Context of the 'Taza Kazakhstan' Concept."

It detailed the role of women in shaping ecological culture, implementing climate programs, and promoting a green economy.

A representative of the Ministry of Ecology emphasized the main directions of the "Taza Kazakhstan" concept, including measures to reduce pollution, rational use of natural resources, and increasing public engagement in climate actions.

Forum participants noted that women play an important role in protecting vulnerable ecosystems, especially in mountainous regions where glacial melting directly affects water security and agricultural sustainability.
