Kazakhstan opened a Permanent Representative Office to ICAO
On August 26, 2024, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) was opened in Montreal (Canada). The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan Marat Karabayev, the President of the ICAO Council, the Secretary General of ICAO, as well as the heads of aviation authorities of ICAO member countries, El.kz reports.
The opening of the representative office of Kazakhstan in ICAO allows to strengthen cooperation with the organization and develop the civil aviation industry in the country. This also contributes to maintaining a high level of flight safety, which is a priority for Kazakhstan.
In the period from 25 to 28 August 2024, the Minister of Transport Marat Karabayev took part in the 14th ICAO Air Navigation Conference (AN-Conf/14), held in Montreal. The conference provided a unique opportunity for detailed technical discussions, which resulted in the agreement of a set of high-level recommendations in the field of air navigation and aviation safety for all 193 member countries of the organization.
During the conference, Minister Karabayev met with the President of the ICAO Council, Salvatore Sciacchitano, and the ICAO Secretary General, Juan Carlos Salazar. The ICAO leadership highly appreciated the decision of Kazakhstan to open a representative office and expressed hope for further active participation of the country in improving the level of flight safety and aviation security.
As a result of the meeting, a Management Services Agreement was signed, which provides for the use of ICAO's experience and resources to support Kazakhstan and its aviation organizations in achieving their goals. The document includes an increase in operational performance and compliance with international aviation standards. The agreement also opens up opportunities for ICAO to develop project proposals that meet Kazakhstan's needs, including civil aviation master planning and airport development.
