Kazakhstan maintains 4.9% of unemployment rate
In 2022, the unemployment rate in Kazakhstan amounted to 4.9%, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Bureau of National Statistics of the ASPR of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
According to the ministry, 9 million people were employed in various spheres of the republic's economy, of which 6.9 million people (76.3% of the total number of people employed in the economy) were employees, 2.1 million people (23.7% of the total number of people employed in the economy) were self-employed. The employment rate to the total population aged 15 years and over was 65.3%.
"The largest share of the employed population was observed in the spheres of trade (16.7%), education (12.7%), industry (12.5%) and agriculture (12.4%)," the report said.
The Bureau noted that in 2022 there were 458.3 thousand unemployed people. Among young people between the ages of 15 and 28, the unemployment rate was 3.8%. The share of NEET youth who do not work or are not engaged in education or training was 6.5%.
"Officially, at the end of December 2022, 132.3 thousand unemployed were registered in the employment bodies of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The share of registered unemployed amounted to 1.4% of the labor force," the press service said.
