A new online legal assistance service, LegalExpert.kz, powered by artificial intelligence, has become available to residents of Kazakhstan,El.kz reports.

The platform was developed by professors from Karaganda University in collaboration with a team of IT specialists.

The project is already recognised as the country’s first free AI-based legal assistant capable of resolving common legal issues in real time.

The service is accessible to everyone: users simply need to visit the website, register with an email address, and submit their legal question—ranging from complaints against an employer to issues with divorce, alimony, or fines. The AI system analyzes the situation, asks clarifying questions, and generates a response within minutes. Users receive a step-by-step guide, legal references, risk assessments, and examples of court rulings in similar cases.

According to one of the project’s authors, Professor Larisa Kussainova, around 70% of legal consultations involve repetitive questions.

“We studied over 100,000 court decisions to train the system to quickly navigate the most common legal scenarios. It’s not meant to replace a lawyer, but it’s a practical tool that’s always available,” she explained.

LegalExpert.kz operates in both Kazakh and Russian.

Currently, the project is running in pilot mode in the Karaganda region, but access is open to all Kazakhstani citizens. All that’s needed is a smartphone or computer and an internet connection.
