President of the Republican Public Association “Federation of Sports for People with Intellectual Disabilities” (IDSPORT Kazakhstan), Dina Temirgalieva, has been elected to the Management Board of the International Federation for Athletes with Intellectual Impairments (Virtus Management Board) for the 2025–2029 term, El.kz reports citing the Federation’s press service.

The decision was made on August 25, 2025, at the Virtus Asia General Assembly in Bangkok, Thailand, through a voting process. Kazakhstan is first ever represented in the governing body of Virtus.

“Virtus’ decision is a high assessment and recognition of the work Kazakhstan has carried out on the international stage. For us, it is a mark of trust and an important signal that our country is capable of being a reliable partner in the global sports community. For me this is a great responsibility and a serious challenge for the next four years. Over the past two years, we have hosted three World Championships and actively participated in international competitions, demonstrating that Kazakhstan can be both an organizer and a world-class competitor,” Dina Temirgalieva noted.

Virtus is an international sports federation established over 35 years ago. It is a co-founder of the International Paralympic Committee and an official member of the Paralympic Movement. Today, Virtus unites more than 100 countries and over 7,000 athletes. Within elite sports, three disciplines for athletes with intellectual impairments — swimming, athletics, and table tennis — are included in the official Paralympic Games program.
