Due to the projected shortage of light oil products by 2036, Kazakhstan intends to start designing a new refinery with a capacity of 10 million tons per year no later than 2030,El.kz reports.
Kazakh Minister of Energy Almassadam Satkaliyev noted that from 2030 to 2036, the demand for diesel fuel will increase by 2 million tons annually, which will lead to a deficit of 200 thousand tons, with a subsequent increase of 300-350 thousand tons annually until 2050.
The construction of the new refinery will meet domestic demand for fuel from 2040 to 2050 and open up the opportunities for exports to the fast-growing markets of Central, South and Southwest Asia.
