Kazakhstan Fashion Week Astana 2026, one of the country's key fashion industry events, kicked off at the National Museum, El.kz reports.

For the first time, the runway shows are being held within a museum space, strengthening the connection between fashion, culture, and art.

A solo show by the Dinara Satzhan brand opened Fashion Week, setting the tone for the entire three-day program.

The collection's concept is based on an exploration of the history of Kazakh costume and ornamentation. Creative co-directors Dinara Satzhan and Besarion view the ornament as a visual code of identity, values, and mindset.

"Whenever I attend shows in Europe, I always wonder: why isn't it like this for us? There, shows are held in museums, in the Louvre, in historical spaces.

Perhaps one needs to mature for that. I feel we have reached that point. I have been in the industry for 16 years and I understand that to grow, you have to walk your own path. Today, we are already merging art and fashion," Dinara Satzhan noted.

Despite the novelty of the ideas, the brand maintains its DNA, not by breaking codes but by revealing them in a new way through a modern interpretation of traditions.

The designer’s daughter, Diana Satzhan, also walked the runway as a model. She was supported in the audience by the designer’s mother, Akmaral Satzhan, who shared her emotions:

"I loved everything. This isn't her first show, but nevertheless, you worry every time and feel a fresh sense of joy for her."

The fashion show gathered guests, influencers, and industry representatives, marking the start of Kazakhstan Fashion Week Astana 2026, which will run until April 28.
