Kazakhstan Develops Interregional Cooperation with Norway
Ambassador of Kazakhstan Adil Tursunov visited Rogaland province, El.kz cites MFA.
In the city of Bryne Adil Tursunov took part in an event dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the president of “Bike for Peace” movement Mr. Tore Nærland. The Kazakh diplomat announced that in accordance with the Decree of H.E. Mr. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (April 23, 2024, №526), Mr. Tore Nærland was awarded the Order of «Dostyk» of II Degree.
«Bike for Peace» movement is promoting a world without nuclear weapons. Since the establishment of «Bike for Peace» in 1977, the movement have organized 250 bicycle tours in 120 countries. To commemorate the 20thanniversary of the closing of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site, «Bike for Peace» organized a multi-day bike ride Semey-Almaty-Astana in 2011.
The Ambassador of Kazakhstan also held meetings with Sola kommune Mayor Janne Stangeland Rege and former Mayor of Sola kommune Tom Henning Slethei.
Adil Tursunov had an interesting conversation with the former non-resident Norwegian Ambassador to Kazakhstan (2000-2008, with location in Moscow) Mr. Øyvind Nordsletten.
During these talks the Ambassador informed the Norwegian counterparts about the political reforms in Kazakhstan being implemented on the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the economic potential of our country. The parties considered the prospects of establishing Kazakh-Norwegian interregional cooperation and discussed plans for future joint business activities in the cities of Bryne and Sola.
Adil Tursunov also visited a number of enterprises in the Rogaland province, including a plant of “Kverneland Group” for production of agricultural equipment, a plant of the largest dairy production company in Norway “Tine” and a greenhouse for the cultivation of vegetables of the “Miljøgartneriet” company.
In general, the visit showed new prospects and growing interest of Norwegian regions to intensify cooperation with Kazakhstan in trade and investments.
