Kazakhstan-Bavarian investment roundtable held in Munich
During the Kazakhstan Economy Days in Germany, the Kazakhstan-Bavarian Investment Roundtable was held in Munich. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Almas Aidarov, Chairman of the Board of "NC "KAZAKH INVEST" JSC Meirzhan Yussupov and representatives from the government and private sectors of the two countries participated in the roundtable, El.kz cites invest.go.kz.
Germany is one of Kazakhstan's important partners in the EU, and there are a number of intergovernmental agreements aimed at deepening trade and economic cooperation and encouraging and protecting mutual investments.
Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Germany for 11 months of 2022 amounted to $2.36 billion, which is 7% higher than for the entire previous year ($2.2 billion). Since 2005, Germany's direct foreign investments in Kazakhstan's economy have totaled around $5.3 billion, most of which are directed to the processing and manufacturing industries. The list of Kazakh-German investment projects consists of 52 projects for a total of over $4 billion.
The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Germany Nurlan Onzhanov, Honorary President of the Economic Advisory Council of Bavaria Otto Wiesheu, and Executive Director of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy Michael Harms opened the event.
The main report was made by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Almas Aidarov, who spoke about the positive dynamics of the development of bilateral relations, offering the German business community to invest in projects in the energy, raw materials, industrial and machinery industries, develop cooperation in the transport-logistics sector, agriculture, education and science, and IT sector.
Chairman of the Management Board of "NC "KAZAKH INVEST" JSC Meirzhan Yussupov spoke about the activities of the company, preferences provided by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and answered questions from German businessmen. A special interest among business representatives was caused by the transport-logistics potential of Kazakhstan, promising directions in the field of cooperation, and the favorable investment climate in the country.
During a visit by the Kazakh delegation to Bavaria, Deputy Foreign Minister Almas Aidarov and Chairman of the Board of "NC "KAZAKH INVEST" JSC Meirzhan Yussupov held several bilateral meetings with German companies.
At a meeting with Senior Vice President of "EOS GmbH" Markus Glasser, the sides discussed the possibility of implementing a project to create a scientific and innovation center for material competencies (polyamides, metal powders). It should be noted that "EOS GmbH" is a world leader in the field of industrial 3D printing of metal and plastic products. During the meeting, a partnership agreement was signed between "EOS GmbH" and the K.I. Satpayev National Research Technical University.
The CEO of GS-Bavaria GmbH, Sergej Schmitke, also spoke at the meeting about the company's readiness to implement projects in Kazakhstan. Specifically, the company plans to produce polyethylene-wax products and nano-particle products using unique technology. GS Bavaria GmbH specializes in the production of high-performance nano-materials and functional additives, as well as developing new generation composite materials based on tungsten for industrial use.
