Kazakhstan and Vietnam ratified agreement on transfer of sentenced persons
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a law ratifying the Agreement between Kazakhstan and Vietnam on transfer of sentenced persons, El.kz news agency reports.
- The Head of State signed the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Ratification of the Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on transfer of sentenced persons", the press service of Akorda reports.
The agreement was signed in Hanoi on August 21, 2023. It establishes the conditions for the transfer of sentenced persons, including the requirement to obtain written consent from the convicted person or his legal representative.
Kazakhstan has already concluded such agreements with 23 countries, and over the past 5 years, 160 citizens have been transferred to Kazakhstan to serve their sentences.
