Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan launch new air route
The Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan announced that from June 1, 2024, a new regular air route between Almaty and Nukus will be launched, according to the agreement between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan,El.kz reports.
According to the agreement, Uzbekistan Airways will start operating flights on this route twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, using Airbus A320 aircraft with a capacity of 174 seats.
Currently, there are 37 flights a week between the two countries. During last year's negotiations between the aviation authorities of the two countries, an increase in the number of flights and the expansion of the geography of flights were discussed.
"During the talks, the parties discussed a further increase in the number of flights and expansion of the geography of flights, also agreed to increase the number of permitted flights by more than 2 times on the routes Astana - Tashkent from 12 to 36 flights per week, Almaty - Tashkent from 20 to 36 flights per week, and on other routes up to 4 flights per week," the ministry noted.
The total number of international flights from Kazakhstan is 567 per week on 121 air routes, providing direct flights to 28 countries.
