Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan agree to install transboundary water meters

Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of Kazakhstan Nurzhan Nurzhigitov and Minister of Water Resources of Uzbekistan Shavkat Khamraev held a meeting to discuss key issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of water resources, El.kz reports.

At the upcoming meeting of the Interstate Commission for Water Coordination of Central Asia, the forecast schedule of reservoirs and water supply volumes will be approved. Nurzhan Nurzhigitov thanked his Uzbek colleagues for their active participation in the meeting of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS), noting that joint work is already bringing positive results.

Minister of Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Khamraev expressed support for Kazakhstan's chairmanship in IFAS and expressed Uzbekistan's readiness to strengthen cooperation within the framework of the fund.

In addition, the parties discussed the development of the Regional Strategy for the Rational Use of Water Resources.
