Kazakhstan and South Korea expand cooperation in civil service

Ambassador of Kazakhstan Nurgali Arystanov met with Minister of Personnel Management of the Republic of Korea Yeon Won Jeong, El.kz cites Kazakh FM.

The parties discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in civil service within the framework of memorandums signed in 2024 between the Agency for Civil Service Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Personnel Management of the Republic of Korea, as well as between the Astana Civil Service Hub and the Ministry of Personnel Management of the Republic of Korea regarding the establishment of a Korean Center of the Astana Civil Service Hub.

In the context of the goals set by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in his State-of-the-Nation Address, which focus on ensuring meritocracy and enhancing the professional qualifications of civil servants, the Kazakh diplomat emphasized the importance of active cooperation in these areas. In turn, Minister Yeon expressed his willingness to expand training programs for civil servants tailored to the needs of the Kazakh side.

Additionally, during the meeting, Ambassador Arystanov handed over an invitation from Chairman of the Agency for Civil Service Affairs of Kazakhstan Darkhan Zhazykbayev to participate in the “GovHR Forum: New Systems, Modern Services, Novel Solutions”, which will be held in Astana on June 20, 2025. The Korean side expressed gratitude for the invitation and informed of its intention to attend the event.

As a result of the meeting, they agreed to continue the dialogue on improving the civil service system.
