Kazakhstan and Slovakia strengthening interregional cooperation
Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Slovakia Tolezhan Barlybayev visited the Žilina Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry and met with the heads of leading companies of the region to discuss the prospects of trade and economic cooperation and to present the economic potential of Kazakhstan, El.kz cites MFA.
During the conversation with the leadership of the chamber, the diplomat spoke about the current situation in Kazakhstan, the state of the Kazakh economy and the tasks set by the President to the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan's economic growth of 5.1% last year was noted, as well as the significant investment potential of the Republic of Kazakhstan, along with the wide opportunities for bilateral cooperation. The steady growth trend of mutual trade between Kazakhstan and Slovakia was highlighted, with the volume of trade growing by 13.3% to reach 138.9 million USD by the end of 2023, while the volume of trade between Kazakhstan and Slovakia grew by 13.3% to reach 138.9 million USD by the end of 2023. At the same time, the need to expand the structure of trade turnover and overcome the negative balance in trade by increasing exports of Kazakh products to Slovakia was noted.
The management of the Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Žilina expressed readiness to support the development of trade and economic cooperation, noting the great potential of the Kazakh market, as well as the interest of Slovak entrepreneurs in the development of business relations with the Republic of Kazakhstan.
After the meeting, the parties agreed to jointly consider the participation of the Slovak delegation at the 10th session of the Kazakh-Slovak Intergovernmental Commission for Economic and Scientific and Technological Cooperation and the Business Forum to be held in Astana in October 2024, as well as to establish a regular exchange of information on opportunities for the implementation of business projects.
