Kazakhstan and Rwanda expand cooperation: Tokayev and Kagame hold talks in Astana

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with the President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, in an expanded format, El.kz reports citing Aqorda.

Addressing President Paul Kagame, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev described his visit as historic, marking a new chapter in Kazakhstan-Rwanda relations. 

– I believe this visit and our upcoming discussions are of great importance in providing fresh momentum to our bilateral cooperation. We hold a very positive view of Rwanda. Your economy is on the rise, achieving impressive growth. We need to strengthen our ties, as Kazakhstan holds a leading position in its region in terms of GDP, as well as in the development of IT technologies and artificial intelligence. These are priority areas for our mutually beneficial partnership. Therefore, I attach great significance to Your visit, – said President Tokayev.

In response, the Rwandan President expressed gratitude to the Kazakh President for the warm welcome and affirmed his commitment to enhancing bilateral relations. 

–Thank you for your kind invitation to visit Kazakhstan. This is my second visit; I was here previously in 2015. We look forward to exploring opportunities for further collaboration with you and your team for the benefit of both our nations, – Paul Kagame emphasized.

The leaders discussed prospects for advancing Kazakh-Rwandan relations in political, trade, economic, transport, logistics, agricultural, and digitalization spheres. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues.
