Kazakhstan and Nigeria expand cooperation in trade, energy, and agriculture

The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov, held talks with the King of Ife, Ooni Ogunwusi, who arrived in Astana to participate in an international forum,El.kz reports citingprimeminister.kz.

The parties discussed the implementation of agreements reached in January this year during a meeting of the presidents of the two countries within the framework of the "Sustainable Development Week" in Abu Dhabi.

Key topics include expanding trade and economic cooperation, investments, and collaboration in priority sectors.

Among the promising areas are agriculture, transportation and logistics, energy, geological exploration, and digital technologies. In particular, plans for the export of Kazakh wheat to Nigeria were discussed, as well as the use of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) to access African markets.

According to the government, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and African countries increased by 15.4% in 2024, reaching $789.2 million.

At the end of the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in expanding mutually beneficial cooperation and expressed their readiness for further interaction.
