Kazakhstan and France strengthen cooperation in fight against corruption

Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency, Olzhas Bektenov held an online meeting with the Director of the French Anti-Corruption Agency Charles Duchesne, El.kz reports with reference to the official telegram channel of the department.

During the conversation, the head of the Agency informed his French colleague about the norms in the legislation that have entered into force. Introduction of the institution of personal responsibility of managers for corruption of subordinates, strengthening responsibility for corruption in the quasi-public sector, toughening responsibility for corruption crimes for law enforcement officers and judges.

Olzhas Bektenov mentioned the work carried out on behalf of the Head of State to return illegally withdrawn capital to the country.

In his turn, Charles Duchesne praised the work of the Agency and spoke about the ongoing work of his department within the framework of the National Anti-Corruption Plan of France for 2020-2022, as well as about institutional mechanisms for the best detection, prevention and suppression of corruption using the best practices.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the further development of Kazakh-French cooperation in the field of combating corruption. In this regard, an agreement was reached on the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.
