Kazakhstan and China to create joint college

Kazakhstan and China have agreed to open a joint vocational-technical college and expand academic exchange in the field of secondary vocational education, El.kz reports citing the Kazakh Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

The 9th meeting of the education ministers of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization took place in Urumqi, China. Delegations from Kazakhstan, China, Russia, Iran, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and representatives of international organisations participated in the event.

The Minister of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Beisembayev Gani emphasized the strategic importance of strengthening partnerships in the field of technical and vocational education in his speech. Special attention was given to the development of academic mobility, the launch of joint programs, and the internationalization of colleges.

From the Chinese side, the Minister of Education, Huai Jinpeng, participated. During the bilateral meeting, specific steps were discussed regarding the exchange of experiences between educational institutions of the two countries.

Already now, colleges in Almaty, Shymkent, and the Zhambyl region are conducting exchanges with their Chinese partners, organizing internships for students and teachers in industrial clusters and training centers in China, where modern production standards and technologies are mastered. As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached to create a Kazakhstan-China vocational technical college. The new education center will become a platform for training specialists with international qualifications, in demand in high-tech industries.

The Chinese side also expressed its readiness to assist in the professional development of managers in Kazakh educational institutions in the field of artificial intelligence and the digitalization of educational processes.In addition, the parties confirmed their intention to sign a memorandum of cooperation within the framework of the First World Congress on Inclusive Education, which will take place in the fall in Almaty.
