Kazakhstan and China strengthen cooperation in field of railway transportation

An important meeting between the management of railway companies of Kazakhstan and China was held in the Chinese city of Xi'an. The parties discussed strategic cooperation in the field of rail transportation, which plays a key role in the economic cooperation between the two countries, El.kz reports. with reference to the press service of NC KTZ JSC.

In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the volume of cargo transportation between Kazakhstan and China. In 2023, the volume of traffic reached a record 28.3 million tons. Particular attention at the meeting was paid to increasing the capacity and improving the quality of data exchange between Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ) and China Railways (KZD) to ensure the stable movement of goods along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR).

Both sides stressed the importance of implementing major infrastructure projects in the next two years. These projects will significantly increase the capacity and volume of traffic, which will be an important step towards strengthening transport links between Kazakhstan and China.

Following the meeting, a common desire was expressed to continue the joint development of railway infrastructure and ensure a stable growth of freight traffic between the countries.
