Kazakhstan and China discuss cooperation in field of transboundary rivers
Within the framework of the UN Water Conference, representatives of the Kazakh delegation held a meeting with the Minister of Water Resources of the People's Republic of China Li Guoying, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, issues of cooperation in the field of transboundary rivers were discussed.
Also, the delegation of our country took part in plenary sessions and a high-level event "Central Asia: commitments for inclusion in the water agenda of actions", panel sessions "Accelerating the achievement of SDG 6 in landlocked developing countries", "Human rights within the framework of the water agenda", "The economy of water resources: transforming governance to ensure a sustainable, equitable and prosperous future".
As noted in the UN, 153 countries of the world use transboundary water resources - for example, rivers that flow through several countries. About three billion people live directly in the river basins located on the territory of several states. Therefore, the sharing of transboundary water resources is an issue of relevance to all mankind.
