Kazakhstan and Armenia strengthen interparliamentary cooperation in new geopolitical conditions

Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Erlan Koshanov and the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Alen Simonyan, who arrived on an official visit to Kazakhstan,El.kz reports citing the press service of the Mazhilis of Kazakhstan.
Welcoming his Armenian counterpart, Erlan Koshanov emphasized that Armenia is an important and promising partner for Kazakhstan in the South Caucasus region. He noted that Kazakhstan is observing the political, economic, and social reforms being implemented in Armenia.
“Last year we celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Armenia. It is symbolic that the heads of our states exchanged official visits on the occasion of this anniversary. These were two landmark events that gave a powerful impetus to cooperation between our states in new geopolitical conditions. They resulted in the signing of a number of agreements covering all areas of our cooperation, – said Koshanov.

During the negotiations, the sides discussed issues related to the legislative support of agreements reached at the highest level and the support of new cultural and economic initiatives. The Kazakh side informed about the progress of reforms and legislative activities, and expressed readiness to exchange experiences through relevant parliamentary committees.
The Armenian delegation was particularly interested in Kazakh laws aimed at strengthening social justice, law and order, and the rule of law.
In his response, Alen Simonyan expressed interest in expanding inter-parliamentary dialogue.– The development of inter-parliamentary ties contributes to better mutual understanding, strengthens trust, and also enables the effective implementation of bilateral agreements. An important event in the cultural and humanitarian sphere was the Days of Kazakh Culture in Armenia, which took place in April this year. The Armenian side also highly appreciates the attitude of the authorities and the people of Kazakhstan towards the Armenian community, which is an important link between our countries and peoples, – he noted.
The parties also discussed prospects for cooperation in the fields of economy, logistics, and culture.
