In response to the instruction of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Kazakhfilm film studio may soon receive the status of a national one. The initiative was supported by the Ministry of Culture and Information, presenting a corresponding government decree, El.kz reports.
After the adoption of the proposed changes, the official name of the film studio will take the form of "JSC "National Film Studio "Kazakhfilm" named after Shaken Aimanov". The essence of the renaming is not only to change the status, but also to improve the quality of cinema, as well as to stimulate the attraction of foreign investment. The film studio will function as a state-owned operator to provide subsidies to foreign film companies.
Details of the proposal are already available on the Open Legal Acts portal, where they will be under public discussion until November 15, 2023.
It should be noted that the assignment of the status of "National" is a recognition of the special state and public importance for state cultural institutions, as well as for individual artistic and creative groups.
