Kazakh specialists undergo water training in US

Specialists from Kazakhstan are being trained in the United States as part of the professional exchange program The International Visitor Leadership Program,El.kz reports citing Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.

The program includes employees of the Committee for Regulation, Protection and Use of Water Resources, Non-Profit JSC “National. Hydrogeological Service. “Kazhydrogeology” and the Kazakh Research Institute of Water Management. The training will last till April 22 and is dedicated to improving water resources management on the example of the United States.

According to  Erikuly Zhaiyk, Director of the Groundwater Department, the course participants get acquainted with the best practices in the field of water distribution and protection, as well as study infrastructure solutions used in the United States. The program includes visits to water supply facilities, hydroelectric facilities, research centers and meetings with American experts.

Sustainable water use is becoming an increasingly urgent task in the context of climate change and increasing pressure on water resources. Kazakhstan, as a country with a diverse hydrological geography, is interested in applying effective international approaches, especially in the field of monitoring, accounting and planning of water resources.

The exchange program also contributes to strengthening international cooperation in the water sector and the formation of a network of professional contacts between the countries.
