Kazakh Senators, German Bundestag deputies discuss cooperation between two countries
Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations, Defense and Security of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Askar Shakirov held a meeting with deputies of the Bundestag of Germany. This is the first visit of members of the parliamentary group "Germany – Central Asia" to Kazakhstan and the Central Asian region in the current XX convocation of the Bundestag, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of Senate.
The Kazakh Senator informed his European colleagues about the main activities of the Chamber and the political transformation of the Republic as a whole.
During the meeting, the state and prospects of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany were discussed, a new impetus was given by the visits of the President of the country Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Germany in 2019 and 2020.
The parliamentarians noted the priority areas of cooperation, in particular the economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
"It is important to note the productive interaction between the parliamentary friendship groups "Kazakhstan-Germany" and "Germany-Central Asia", which contributes to the strengthening of ties and mutual understanding between our countries. In this regard, we highly appreciate the results of the previous online meeting with the new members of the group of deputies from the Bundestag. I also propose to establish direct ties between the committees of the parliaments of the two countries," Askar Shakirov emphasized.
The parties expressed their readiness to strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany, including at the sites of international organizations.
