All members of Kazakhstan’s national team received awards at the 67th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) held in Shanghai, according to the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, El.kz reports.
At the 67th International Mathematical Olympiad, the Kazakh team earned three silver and three bronze medals. The team’s results have also been published on the official IMO website.
The silver medalists are: Timur Murat, a 12th-grade student at Haileybury Almaty International School; Ali Erkebulanovich, an 11th-grade student at the NURORDA School-Lyceum in Almaty; and Batyrkhan Beyganov, a 10th-grade student at the Republican Physics and Mathematics School.
The bronze medalists are: Yerasyl Altynbek, an 11th-grade student at the NURORDA School-Lyceum in Almaty; Margulan Sharel, a 12th-grade student at Spectrum International School in Astana; and Amirlan Amanzholov, a 12th-grade student at Haileybury Almaty International School.
The Olympiad gathered approximately 700 school students from around the world.
Participants solved complex mathematical tasks requiring advanced knowledge, logical reasoning, and the ability to develop innovative solutions.
Representatives from 117 countries took part in the competition. The IMO is one of the oldest and most prestigious international subject Olympiads for secondary school students.
The International Mathematical Olympiad has been held annually since 1959. Kazakh school students have consistently participated in the competition, making a significant contribution to the country’s record of international academic achievements.
Kazakhstan has participated in the IMO since 1992 and has competed in the Olympiad on more than thirty occasions.
To date, Kazakhstan has won a total of 156 medals at the IMO, including gold, silver, and bronze medals
