Kazakh President notes need for development of national sports

The Head of State received the president of the Association of National Sports Islambek Salzhanov after hearing a report on the results of the work of the Association of National Sports for 2022 and plans for the coming period, El.kz reports citing Akorda.

According to Islambek Salzhanov, the federations of such national sports as kokpar, zhamba atu, audaryspak, tenge ilu, baiga, togyzkumalak, asyk atu, shooting from a traditional bow have passed under the auspices of the Association. In addition, an analysis of the state of national sports in the country was carried out, organizational work was started with individual republican federations.

In September 2022, the World Confederation of Ethnosport unanimously supported Kazakhstan's request to host the V World Nomad Games in 2024.

Following the meeting, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed to work on the organization of the V World Nomad Games at the highest level. He stressed that during this large-scale event, conditions should be created for the effective use of the opportunities of small and medium-sized businesses, including in the fields of tourism, folk crafts, services.

The Head of State noted the need to develop a concept for the development of national sports and instructed to provide for security measures during equestrian competitions.
