Kazakh PM instructs to develop measures on increasing capacity of checkpoints on border

Issues of development of freight transportation and transit were considered today at a government session chaired by Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Vice Minister of Transport Satzhan Ablaliyev spoke about the development of road freight transportation and transit.

According to the results of 9 months of this year, the volume of road freight transportation in the republic amounted to 5.5 million tons, which is 22% more than in the same period last year. At the same time, the share of domestic operators is 42%.

- Positive dynamics is also observed in transit traffic. Compared to last year, there is an increase of 44% - from 2.5 to 3.6 million tons. The main volume falls on the PRC  - cargo transportation in this direction increased by 2 times to 1.5 million tons.

At the same time, there is great potential for further increasing the volume of transit cargo from China to Europe. If the current dynamics are maintained, the level of transit through the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan will increase by 5 times by 2029, which will have a positive impact on the development of the country's economy, the press service said.
