Aigerim Altynbek won four prestigious awards at the 11th International Opera Competition CLIP, El.kz reports.
Her participation in the Concorso Lirico Internazionale di Portofino ended in historic success: she became the first contestant in the competition’s history to receive the First Prize, the Audience Choice Award (Emotion Prize), the award for Best Female Voice, and a special prize from music critic, professor, and artistic director Carlo Majer.
According to the chairman of the jury, renowned opera manager Dominique Meyer, Aigerim Altynbek consistently ranked first among all jury members throughout the entire competition — an extremely rare occurrence that underscored the unanimous support of both the professional community and the audience.
Out of 200 applications from around the world, 92 performers advanced to the semifinals, and only the top 10 vocalists made it to the final gala with an orchestra. The final performances were accompanied by the Orchestra del Teatro Carlo Felice and took place on an open-air stage in the center of Portofino — the event was broadcast live on Italian television.
Particular attention was drawn to the award from the Chilean Ibáñez Atkinson Foundation, which presented Aigerim with the prize for Best Female Voice. For the first time in its history, the foundation supported a non-European performer, offering her a professional recommendation and an invitation to collaborate further in Latin America. This opens up new opportunities for the Kazakh artist’s international career far beyond Europe.
Aigerim Altynbek’s victory is not only a personal achievement but also a significant milestone for Kazakh culture as a whole. In the face of intense competition, she demonstrated a high level of vocal mastery, stage presence, and expressiveness, thereby affirming the world-class quality of Kazakhstan’s vocal school.
